01What we collect

You give us / the app creates

  • Anonymous user ID — created automatically; identifies your data on our servers without identifying you.
  • Your tracked products & settings — the items on your list, condition preferences, target prices, and notification preferences (including quiet hours).
  • Push notification token — only if you enable notifications, so we can send deal alerts.
  • Recovery email (optional) — only if you choose to add one, so you can recover your list on a new phone. We use it solely to send you a sign-in link.

Collected automatically

  • Anonymous usage analytics — events like opening the app, tracking an item, or tapping a buy link, with a random per-session ID. No personal data, no device advertising IDs. You can switch this off in Settings → Privacy → Anonymous usage analytics.
  • Basic technical data needed to serve requests (e.g. IP address handled transiently by our hosting and CAPTCHA for security and abuse prevention).

What we do not collect

Your name, contacts, photos, location, browsing history, or financial information. We don't use device advertising identifiers and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

Not personal data: we also collect product and price information from retailers' licensed affiliate feeds — this is about products, not about you.

02Why we use it

Our legal basis under GDPR Article 6, for each purpose:

03Affiliate links

Scout is free. Some outbound links to retailers (e.g. Coolblue) include an affiliate tag. If you buy after tapping through, we may earn a small commission. This never changes the price you pay, and it never influences a product's deal score. When you tap an affiliate link, the retailer and its affiliate network may process the click under their privacy policies.

04Who processes your data

We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf (sub-processors):

  • DB / Auth
SupabaseDatabase & anonymous authentication (EU region).
  • Hosting
    RailwayAPI hosting (EU West).
  • Push
Apple Push Notification service (APNs)Delivers notifications to your device.
  • Security
Cloudflare TurnstileBot and abuse protection on anonymous sign-in.
  • Affiliate
Affiliate networks (e.g. Awin for Coolblue)Only when you tap an outbound retailer link.

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising.

05Data location & transfers

We aim to host data in the EU/EEA. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, it's done under appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

06Retention

We keep your data while you use Scout. Deleting your account removes it. We may retain anonymised analytics (which can't identify you) for product improvement. Backups are rotated on a routine schedule.

07Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time.

  • Delete everything in-app: Settings → Account → Delete account — permanently removes your data and identity.
  • Turn off analytics: Settings → Privacy.
  • Other requests / questions: email info@getscout.nl.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch DPA (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

08Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to our systems is restricted. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

09Children

Scout isn't directed at children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data.

10Changes

We may update this policy; we'll change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app.

11Contact

Questions or requests about your data, or about this policy, are always welcome.
